Sign-Up Settings

Enable Sign Up - Allow customers to create accounts from the WiFi login page.

Require Name - Make name field mandatory (enabled by default).

Require Email - Make email field mandatory (enabled by default).

Choose Your Approach

  • Guest Access - Disable name/email requirements for minimal friction

  • Managed Access - Disable sign-up entirely and create accounts manually

Free WiFi Packages

Automatically assign Trial packages to new customers.

Free Package - Select Trial package to auto-assign when customers connect.

Trial Package Required

Only Trial-type packages appear in the dropdown. Create a Trial package from Packages first.

Free Package Auto Renew - Automatically renew package when it expires.

Renewal Interval - Amount before auto-renewal (e.g., 1, 7, 30).

Renewal Interval Unit - Period for interval: Hour, Day, Week, Month, Year.

Auto-Renew Example

1 Day = Customers get fresh free package every 24 hours (perfect for cafes offering daily free WiFi)

2 Hours = Customers can reconnect every 2 hours (good for shopping malls)

OTP Settings

OTP Expiry Minutes - Minutes before OTP code expires (default: 5, minimum: 1).

Max OTP Attempts - Maximum verification attempts before blocking (default: 3, minimum: 1).

Security Balance

  • Expiry: 5-10 minutes balances security and user experience

Keep SMS under 160 chars - Avoid multi-part SMS charges from your provider.

Balance OTP security - Use 5-10 minute expiry and 3-5 max attempts.

Sign-up strategy:

  • Hotels: Disable sign-up, create accounts manually
  • Cafes/Public spaces: Enable sign-up with email for marketing
  • Retail: Enable sign-up without email for quick access

Create Trial packages early - Required for automatic free WiFi distribution.

Troubleshooting

Free Package dropdown is empty

Cause: No Trial packages exist.

Fix: Go to Packages and create a package with Package Type: Trial.

Customers not receiving OTP

Cause: SMS not configured properly.

Fix:

  1. Verify Enable SMS is toggled on
  2. Ensure SMS Gateway is set to Custom
  3. Check Calling URL is correct
  4. Confirm your SMS service provider is active

SMS variables showing as {{variable}} text

Cause: Variable mismatch or typo.

Fix:

  • Ensure variable names match exactly (case-sensitive)
  • Only use variables listed for that specific template type
  • Click variable tags instead of typing manually

Auto-renew not working

Cause: Misconfigured renewal settings.

Fix:

  1. Verify Free Package Auto Renew is enabled
  2. Check Renewal Interval matches package validity
  3. Ensure package hasn't been manually revoked

Settings not saving

Cause: Validation error or required field missing.

Fix:

  • Check all required fields are filled (marked with *)
  • Verify currency code is 3 letters (USD, EUR, etc.)
  • Ensure OTP settings meet minimum values

Next Steps

Test Your Configuration

After saving settings, test the customer experience:

  1. Connect to your WiFi portal from a customer device
  2. Verify sign-up flow works as expected
  3. Confirm free package assignment
  4. Test OTP SMS delivery
